Abstract

Introduction: Effective trauma patient management requires a quick, standardized approach to achieve the best outcomes. The Advanced Trauma Life Support® (ATLS) program offers a globally recognized set of protocols for the initial assessment, resuscitation, and stabilization of critically injured patients.

Materials and Methods: This study examines the implementation of ATLS protocols in Albania to improve trauma patient care. It discusses the program's core principles, including primary and secondary surveys, hemorrhage control, airway management, and definitive treatment. Healthcare professionals in Albania are trained in these protocols through a dedicated training program, ensuring they acquire the necessary skills and knowledge to apply these protocols effectively in trauma care.

Results: ATLS® protocols offer a structured, systematic approach to trauma care, resulting in significantly better patient outcomes. The program focuses on early detection of life-threatening injuries, prompt intervention, and efficient use of resources.

Conclusion: ATLS® protocols are the gold standard for trauma care, providing a systematic approach that maximizes outcomes for critically injured patients. Widespread adoption and implementation of these protocols across healthcare settings significantly enhances patient survival and well-being, ushering in a new era of trauma care.
